Hello,
My name is Chris and I am currently writing a research paper which may lead into a published document of some sort- magazine, book, etc. Everyday I see ads for online dating, reality TV shows for love, and so much more. But is this truly where the meaning of relationships and love has come to in the modern era? Do people still believe in true love or is it simply a fantasy for them? In my personal opinion, I truly believe that true love is out there and that there is indeed one person meant for everyone. You may ask, why do I believe this? Simply because I have loved and been loved; I have given someone 100% of my heart; I have felt true heartache and pain; I have learned from these relationships and built on them. I believe that one of the most powerful means of expression of love is through words. I remember when my ex-girlfriend and I had broken up and I was trying to mend the relationship- I wrote her a 3 page letter informing her that it was not fair to either one of us to hold on anymore and try to fix something if both sides didn't want to. I thanked her for making me the man I am and told her I would also consider her to be very special to me. As I wrote this letter, i remember crying- crying with every word I wrote simply because I knew this was my last effort, this was my closure. She would never hear from me again unless she initiated contact. Before I sent her this letter I showed it to a few friends of mine and I didn't expect the responses. They were all amazed with the strength I had to write this and even more moved by my feelings I still had for her and the fight I had displayed even though I had my heart completely torn apart. This is when I realized how powerful words and writing can be in regards to love and relationships.
This is the reason why I want to write this research paper and maybe even have it published- I want the world to see that there is indeed true love, not just from myself in my own personal experience, but from an array of people from around the country of all different ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, etc. What I am asking is for individuals to submit letters to me, whether you had written them in the past or you want to write one now about your true love, what you went through, how you felt. I want to see the depths of true love as I am a believer and I want to help Americans, who are cynical about love, believe again. These letters can be about someone with whom the relationship just didn't work out with, or maybe they passed away; it can be about how happy you are or were with that person; it can be how hurt you are or were because they are gone or if actions were committed; it can be about a boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, etc. Share your story with me and I hope if you do, you give me permission to share some, or maybe all, of your story with others if I indeed make this work. Join me in making America believe in true love again, and not just the 'true love' we see in The Bachelor or other popular relationship shows.
If you wish to submit, please submit your letters to LoveLetterSubmissions@ g m a i l.com (take out spaces)
If you wish to change the names to protect your privacy or the privacy of others, please feel free. The names don't matter- the story does.
Thank you and I hope to hear your story soon,
Chris
